For parents and students alike, transition out of high school can be an anxious time.  However, with the appropriate support system, students with learning differences can attend college, discover their interests, and find meaningful employment.

In partnership with the College of Marin, Star Academy's Post-High School program is designed to support students ages 18 to 22 with learning differences in the areas of education, employment and life skills.  The program is open to graduates from Star Academy and other area high schools.

Our program is staffed by a team that includes an Occupational Therapist, Speech Language Pathologist, as well as a Transitions Counselor, an Educational Specialist, a Wellness Counselor, and teaching assistants. Students also work closely with the College of Marin’s Student Accessibility Services (SAS) counseling team.

Highlights of the program include:
  • Supported College Experience at College of Marin
  • Assistive Technology
  • Speech and Occupational Therapy support
  • Counseling and Case Management
  • Transition Preparation
  • Community Training
  • Independent Living Skills
  • Linkage to outside agencies for vocational support and training
The program runs throughout the school year, following the College of Marin schedule.  Students and their families are responsible for transportation to and from the College and home.
Thank you for your interest in Star Academy. We are proud of our unique program and take great joy in helping you explore Star Academy as an educational option for your student.
